More Fun In Bais
Bais City in Negros Oriental is known for is vast sugar cane haciendas and sightings of various species of dolphins along Tanon Strait. It is 45 minutes away from Dumaguete City so most tourists would take a daytrip (or even half day tour)
Bais got its anme from an elongated eel-like fish that used to abound in the streams and rivers. Legend has it that when a group of Spanish Engineers and Surveyors asked the natives the name of the place, they answered, "Bais", thinking that the foreigners were asking the name of the fish they were catching. Bais was once a barrio of the Municipality of Manjuyod, when the village headman and his followers pledged loyalty to the Alcalde of the municipality.






How to get to Bais City ?
Bais City is less than 45minutes drive from Dumaguete City, less than an hour if by public transpo. You can take the public buses or vans from Dumaguete City to Bais or hire a private van.
Yearly Activities In Bais
The city has its main fiesta, the Sipong Festival, every 7 September . Sipong is one of the most awaited highlights in the many activities presented during the city fiesta. Its a festive thanks giving dance for a good harvest of crops, sea foods and other source of living found and cherished by the people in the city.
